KLu in Koude Oorlog 1 - Lockheed F104G

Op 19 december 1962 landden twee F-104G Starfighters op de Vliegbasis Twenthe, de eerste van een serie van 95 toestellen gebouwd door Fokker en aangevuld met 25 vliegtuigen geproduceerd door FIAT. Lockheed leverde nog eens achttien TF-104G's, tweezitters voor de instructeur en leerling-vlieger. Bovendien nam de KLu twintig toestellen van het type RF-104G in dienst als tactische fotoverkenner.

In deze eerste aflevering van een serie over de KLu tijdens de Koude Oorlog staat de F-104G centraal. In samenwerking met de Sectie Luchtmachthistorie van de KLu en het Militaire Luchtvaart Museum zijn op deze DVD veel unieke archiefbeelden in kleur en z/w uit de vijftiger en zestiger jaren en interviews met militaire deskundigen opgenomen.

In deze tweede aflevering van een serie over de KLu tijdens de Koude Oorlog staat de Hawker Hunter centraal. KLu in Koude Oorlog 3 - F84F Thunderstreak

In 1955 ontving het Commando Tactische Luchtstrijdkrachten in het kader van het Amerikaanse Mutual Defense Assistance Program 180 F84F Thunderstreaks en 24 RF84F Thunderflashes. In deze documentaire het verhaal van vliegers en technici over motoren, nvigeren, fotograferen en het afwerpen van bommen met een zogenaamde nucleaire lading.

KLu in Koude Oorlog 4 - Gloster Meteor

In juni 1948 landden op Vliegbasis Twenthe de eerste drie Nedrlandse Meteors. Fokker zou 330 Meteors voor de Nederlndse en Belgische luchtmacht in licentie bouwen. In totaal ontving de luchtmacht 266 toestellen. Deze documentaire geeft een beeld van dit karakteristieke vliegtuig.

KLu in Koude Oorlog 5 - Northrop / Canadair NF-5A & NF-5B

Filmbelden en foto's uit de zeventiger jaren laten een beeld zien van één van de fraaiste naoorlogse jachtbommenwerpers an de KLu. In nauwe samenwerking met het Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie, het Militaire Luchtvaart Museum en door gebruikmaking van de beeldcollectie Enders en uit privébezit vanenekele geinterviewden is deze documentaire tot stand gekomen.

Klu in Koude Oorlog 6 - F-16A & F-16B

De eerste F-16, de J-259, landde op 7 juli 1979 op de Vliegbasis Leeuwarden. De Koninklijke Luchtmacht kwam in het bezit van een zeer geavanceerd ontwerp van General Dynamics. De F-16 was uitgerust met een computergestuurd besturingssysteem door middel van fly-by-wire. Het ontwerp van de cockpit was vernieuwend. De wendbaarheid bleek fenomenaal. De vormgeving had bijzondere aspecten, maar de constructie van het vliegtuig was conservatief. Het multifunctionele toestel was flexibel in haar taken: luchtverdedigingsmissies, tactische operaties en ook luchtverkenningsmissies. Door de hoge vliegbelasting op het vliegtuig en een veroudering van de electronische hardware is in de negentiger jaren een technisch programma tot stand gekomen om de toestellen een 'mid-life update' te geven. In deze documentaire wordt het aankoopbeleid, de bouw bij Fokker, het vliegen, het onderhoud, de bewapening en de inzet van de F-16 binnen de KLu, de NAVO en in voormalig Joegoslavie en Afghanistan belicht.

In nauwe samenwerking met het Nederlands Instituut voor Militaire Historie en ondersteuning van de Vliegbasis Volkel en met gebruikmaking van de Beeldcollectie Enders en de filmcollectie van Rob van Maanen, wordt een beeld gegeven van een uniek jachtvliegtuig dat al jaren in dienst is van onze luchtmacht. In deze documentaire wordt een beeld gegeven van de F-16 vanaf de introductie tot heden. In een extra programma worden de procedures bij het starten en het vliegen van de machine diepgaand belicht.

Superfighter In Action - Tornado F3

This presentation of the two-seater Tornado F3 fighter/interceptor is carried out by pilots Archie Neill and Jim Brown during a memorable show year. We accompany the crew of a Tornado F3 from the early planning stages right up to the entire demonstartion flights during which the capabilities of this outstanding aircraft are highlighted.

On-board cameras give us the opportunity to take part in a six aircraft formation flight. Later we engage in a supersonic flight with speeds up to 640 knots.
