Specifically made for the AERA 500 series but can also be used with the AERA795.
Ideal in cockpits where the use of the yoke mount is not possible and perfect for helicopter operations.
Requirements:
All you need to do is to remove the OEM cradle from the original yoke mount (or buy a spare from Garmin) and attach it to the mounting plate (matching holes) with the enclosed screws and bolts. Also fits the AERA 500 & 550.
Benefits:
- Rugged but lightweight construction
- Sticks reliable on any smooth and clean surface (aircraft, car, boat) even on bent Plexiglas (if radius is not to narrow)
- Secure "heads-up" location will lessen the danger of inattention or disorientation
- Reduced chance of flying off course, while trying to program a yoke-mounted GPS.
- No need for an external antenna any more (in most cases)
- Developed by a pilot for pilots, after his bad experiences with a Ram Mount (black rubber suction cup)
In the time it takes to unravel your headset, your portable, large-format GPS will look like a fixed addition to your panel instrument array
Imagine the joy of that joystick when it isn't dancing around in the yoke. How soon will you whack it with your coffee mug, or drop your headset on it, when it's strapped to your leg? A BIG display in a small confine will get in the way of your hands, your elbow, your... uh... belly.
Just because you bought a large-format display, you shouldn't be punished for your act. Give that respectable navigation tool a deserved place: in line with your panel instruments. At the same time, you'll turn your portable, large-format GPS into a heads-up display!
Save your handheld GPS or FRS from some of the scuffs and scrapes it could pick up in the line of duty. This nylon carrying case protects your unit while in storage or in the field. Features a wide zippered opening and a belt loop for accessibility and portability.
